Sometimes tackling the renovation of a building is more complicated than building a new one, not only because of the historic value of the part that must be preserved, but also because of the state of the structure itself since we rarely know what condition it is in before beginning the project. Furthermore, the act of working on an existing building is a challenge for any architect since it means developing adaptive strategies that are very different from those that would be developed for a new construction. The sensitivity of the architect carrying out the renovation is of utmost importance, since he must combine the client´s wishes with the realities of the structure.
